Student Nights at Rams Hockey Games

Thursday, January 30th, the Student Ambassador team and I attended the Rams Men’s hockey game vs. Brock University for one of the most exciting events on campus; Student Nights!

Rams hockey games are one of the greatest places to show your school spirit and have a fun night out with friends. “Student Night” at men’s hockey games means that Ryerson students can enjoy $3 beer and $1 pop throughout the game while also having the chance to win great prizes! This draws in a huge crowd which pumps up the team to play even harder while their fellow Rams cheer them on.

Thursday’s game was no exception to the continuous success of Student Night. The Mattamy Athletic Centre (previously Maple Leaf Gardens) was jam packed with the biggest Rams supporters rocking their Ryerson gear and cheering loudly with noisemakers. It was quite the sight.

Ryerson Athletics also offers special prizes for students who attend games. Recently, they’ve been giving away $50 meal plan cards for students who attended the hockey, basketball, and volleyball games in one weekend. In between periods, students could also sign up for the chance to win up a thousand dollars by shooting a puck into the net from across the ice. Prizes for the lucky winners vary from game to game. They could include money or gift cards, and once they even gave away Beyonce tickets. Yeah, I’ll just let that sink in…

So, what better reason could you want to come out to Student Nights and have a blast? I know I’ll definitely be attending these games on a regular basis. The crowd is always pumped and there’s countless rewards for being involved in the Ryerson community.
