Hey everyone!
My name is Alyssa and I’m back for another year as a Student Ambassador at WhyRyerson!
I am a fourth-year direct entry Business Management student, majoring in Marketing Management. What exactly does direct-entry mean? After graduating from a three-year college program, I decided to transfer to Ryerson to complete my Bachelor of Commerce.
In order to get to know me a little better, here are three things I’m excited for this year!
Ted Rogers Management Conference
The Ted Rogers Management Conference (TRMC) is a three-day professional development forum that connects students to industry professionals. This year I’m excited to be a part of the Executive Team, taking on the role of Vice President of Corporate Relations. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to pull off a conference as big as this one, but in the end, it is always worth it seeing the event come together.
Friendsgiving
Last year my friends and I started a tradition: Friendsgiving! Ryerson has a large population of international students, some of those coming from the USA. Because American and Canadian Thanksgiving are not at the same time, a lot of my American friends weren’t able to make the trip home. That’s when we decided to create Friendsgiving, an annual potluck where we come together to connect and eat some delicious food.

Graduation
After five years, a college diploma, and too many exams to count, I will finally have my Bachelor of Commerce! It’s been a long journey, but I don’t regret one second of it (I’ll probably even miss it come next September)!
