Aside from Drake, brunch seems to be the one thing that Toronto can’t get enough of, and Ryerson students are no exceptions. Brunch makes the perfect post-midterm meal, celebratory essay feast, mid-week study break-heck, eat it anytime! There are plenty of delicious places all within a few minutes walking distance from campus, so get your agendas out and schedule a brunch date in!
You’ve probably walked past this unassuming spot on the corner of Mutual St and Dundas East before, but little did you know that it was home to what is perhaps Toronto’s best, and cheapest, brunch. Crispy home fries, three-dollar milkshakes, and the fluffiest pancakes in the city await you at this hidden gem. If you want serious bang for your buck and a quality meal that will keep you full all day, the Mutual Street Deli is the place to be.
If diners aren’t your style, you might find Eggspectation tickling your fancy with its white chairs and hipster lightbulb decor. Not as cheap as some of the others on the list, but sometimes you just have to treat yourself after an 8am midterm. However they do have quite the selection of eggs benny, a brunch delight that’s a bit hard to resist.
This 24-hour diner can double as a late-night study spot, if overnighters are your thing (I don’t recommend). Fran’s has two locations near campus, one on Victoria and one on College, giving you ample options to satisfy your brunch cravings. Fran’s is also veg friendly, so you vegetarians can finally feast on sausage in addition to your eggs and toast.
Recently re-opened after renovations, Oakham Cafe is a surprisingly delicious and cheap place to grab brunch before class. Oakham Cafe is located in the SCC, making it an ideal stop for either dine-in or take-out as you feast on brunch fare right from the comfort of your very own campus. Plus, if you have a meal plan you can use your OneCard here!
