4 Tips to Setting Effective Goals

And you have a dream SO big that you don’t even know where to begin with tackling it, then you have come to the right place, because here are 4 ways to effectively set goals in university!

1. Set SMART Goals!


You may or may not have heard of this term before, but a SMART goal is a specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and timely goal. For example: a SMART goal could be, “I’m going to go to the gym every other day until I am able to run 3k straight!.” Don’t set an unrealistic goal because not only is it highly unlikely that you will reach that goal, but you will also be bummed when you don’t!

2. Start working towards your goal ASAP.


You don’t want to be like spongebob and squidward here by the time you achieve your goal so start as soon as possible! Even if you can’t be 100% focused on your goal at the moment, it’s better to start somewhere and progress will eventually be made!

3. Have fun with your goal!


You don’t want to pick a goal that will bring you no happiness whatsoever. So try and find something that you will enjoy accomplishing but will still be challenging for you! For example, why not pick a goal to become even better at one of your goals?!

4. Be realistic. 


If you know that you aren’t going to commit to the goal, don’t set it. We are in university, which is a busy, busy place and sometimes you may not have time to set and achieve goals, which is totally ok. Set goals when you can, set them for things your interested in and make them SMART, and you’ll be golden!
