Top Five Thrift Stores Around Toronto

I am the thrifting queen, and there is absolutely no doubt about that. Catch me at any point, on any day, and I will be wearing head-to-toe thrifted clothing (and likely carrying thrifted books). Today, I am sharing with you a few of my secret thrifting havens around campus so you can be as thrifty as the thrift queen.

Number 1: Black Market Clothing (256 Queen St W) 25-minute walk or 15-minute transit

Why it is awesome:

  • Everything is $10 or less
  • There are tees with every slogan and design imaginable available
  • There is a barber shop and record store connected to the shop
  • It is underground

Number 2: Kind Exchange (379 Queen St W) 25-minute walk or 15-minute transit

Why it is awesome:

  • You can choose to buy clothing, sell clothing, trade clothing, or donate clothing (read more here)
  • They consistently have brand-name pieces for super low prices
  • There are constantly sales and deals going on

Number 3: Value Village (924 Queen St E) 45-minute walk or 25-minute transit

Why it is awesome:

  • They have absolutely everything you’d ever need ever
  • Endless supply of mom jeans and jean jackets
  • If you’re a member, they occasionally have unreal deals

Number 4: Courage My Love (14 Kensington Ave) 25-minute walk or 15-minute transit

Why it is awesome:

  • They sell trinkets from around the world
  • An infamous aura that makes you feel welcomed no matter who you are
  • They sell cheap cashmere (everyone needs a real cashmere sweater)

Number 5: Penny Arcade Vintage (1177 Dundas St W) 50-minute walk or 20-minute transit

Why it is awesome:

  • While Penny Arcade is a wee bit on the pricier side, it is one of my favourites. The products are actually worth the price you are charged.
  • They carry tons of beautiful vintage leather pieces
  • They always have a huge selection of shoes
  • The owner also carries Toronto-based goodies, such as skincare, jewelry, and swimwear.
