Top 5 Ice Cream Places You HAVE To Try

It might be getting into the coolers season but no one is ever too cool for ice cream! I took one for the team and decided to track down five ice cream shops around town that you need to visit at least once. Trust me, you won’t need any convincing after you see the pictures.

Sweet Jesus

If you’re familiar with the John Street location, you’re probably familiar with the line that wraps around it. Personally I like to skip that line by only going during massive snowstorms, which seems to speed up the process a bit. However if you’re ready to indulge in this sweet treat it’s totally worth the wait, also I totally recommend their Key Lime Paleta if you’re not in the mood for soft serve.

Locations: 106 John St, 780 Queen St East & 130 Eglinton Ave East.

The Red Bench

Red Bench Ice Cream

I will argue this to end of time; the Red Bench has the best ice cream sandwiches in the entire world. Don’t get me wrong, their frozen yogurt and cookies are great on their own, but something special happens when you put them together. Their cookies are baked fresh to perfection daily and you also get your own choice of toppings and specialty ice cream filling.

Location: 611 Yonge St

Fugo Desserts

I don’t know if I’ve ever been so full in my life. Fugo is the newest to the game and is taking on Sweet Jesus and Junked Food in the specialty soft serve department. With unique creations raining from Early Grey flavored ice cream to actual honey combs in your cup, this little shop has something for everyone. Bonus, it’s the closest to campus!

Location: 205 Dundas St West

Peace Treats

Peace Treats Milkshake

Well technically this isn’t ice cream but it is an important ingredient in it so we’re just going to roll with it. I like to consider myself somewhat of a milkshake connoisseur and I’m telling you these are worth the short trip to the west side. Peace Treats are part of The Peace Collective’s clothing store’s first location. With Toronto-themed merchandise and gourmet milkshakes, who could ask for a better pairing?

Location: 131 Ossington Ave

Junked Food

Now this is not only a place for crazy cones, but other savory concoctions as well. However, for science purposes, I decided to try their premium soft serve with house made signature flavours. With silly names like Cereal Killer and Talk Nerdy to Me these soft serve cones live up to their slogan that nothing is every too crazy to eat.
