It’s amazing to see what a handful of students pressing for action and change are able to accomplish in a few months. The Ryerson University Team for the CIBC Run for the Cure completed the 5-kilometer run on Sunday and raised over ten thousand dollars for breast cancer research and awareness. This is the second time the University has participated in the run and is hoping to participate again next year with an even stronger team and fundraiser.
This year it was my pleasure to be one of the Co-Captains for Ryerson University. I was so happy to help lead and organize a team for such an amazing event like this to bring a great sense of community to Ryerson and Toronto. Students, staff, faculty and alumni were all “decked-out” for the event in pink wigs, pink shirts and top-notch running gear. Whether you’re a runner or not this event is a ton of fun and awesome to get involved with.
Believe it or not, plans for next year’s RU Team for the CIBC Run for the Cure are already in the works. Ryerson competed in the Post-Secondary Challenge for the run and is hoping to come out on the top next year. With your help we’ll be able to make a great difference and hopefully crush breast cancer once and for all.
