I’m back asking your burning questions, based on what you asked me on Snapchat. HERE WE GO.
Why did you choose your program?
I chose my program because I was interested in a few different creative fields, and believed Creative Industries would give me the opportunity to gain insight into all of them. The program also seemed good for people who wanted to learn about a particular industry, but didn’t actually want to “do the thing” (e.g. learning about fashion, but not wanting to design). I loved that we would be learning about business and entrepreneurship, as well as the ability to choose from some really cool courses and electives.
Are classes super hard?
Of course some courses will be challenging, but generally, classes aren’t hard if you develop a good work ethic, time management, and know how to write a good essay. Professors are a resource too, so if you feel like you aren’t grasping the course material, do not hesitate to ask for clarification, guidance, or even a meeting to discuss what you don’t understand!
What is the first day of school like?
Orientation week occurs the week before school starts, and then the following week (the first week of school), the Students’ Union hosts Week of Welcome. This means you have two straight weeks of fun activities, concerts, contests, and much more. When it comes to the actual first day of classes, it consists of you simply going to the classes on your schedule. In each class, the professor will either go over the syllabus and let you all leave, or begin the first lecture. Either way, you usually end class a little bit earlier than normal, which is always nice.
Where can I find the list of clubs Ryerson has? Are there a lot of clubs to join?
You can find the list here! Ryerson has a crazy amount of student-lead teams, clubs and organizations. They range from religious groups, to hip hop clubs, to cultural associations, to the Quidditch team. And if you still don’t see where you fit, you can always start your own group!!!
