Anna Strungar

unnamed

What is your name, hometown and what year are you in?
Anna Strungar, Chisinau, The Republic of Moldova – in the 2nd year

Why did you choose Accounting & Finance?
I have chosen this program because I dream of becoming an accountant. In addition, Ryerson diploma will open a great deal of new opportunities, because, when I graduate I will become a competitive candidate in the workforce.

What does a typical school day look like for you?
A typical school day usually starts at 8:00 am. It is the time when the majority of my classes start. After the class I can go to the library to do my homework, to read or to spend some time with my friends working on the projects. I prefer morning classes because after the class the whole day is ahead and I have the possibility to be involved in the Ryerson community and to interact with my classmates.

What is the most challenging part of the program?
The most challenging part of the program is to master time management skills, which are indispensable in our student lives. The pace of education is so intense that a student should be able to keep up in order not to stay behind. Planning ahead is the key of success in our program.

What is the best part of the program?
I am very proud to be a part of this program. It offers a great deal of advantages. The best part of the program is the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge into practice through online homework and projects, internal case competitions and involvement into Ryerson community. In addition, students have the opportunity to study both accounting and finance before they declare their major, which makes a difference when one is ready to be employed.

What is your favourite class?
My favourite classes are accounting classes. I declared the Accounting major!

Why should a student choose Ryerson?
Ryerson is the best place in the world to study for a lot of reasons. First of all, the professors are extremely sophisticated, knowledgeable and have personalized approach to every student. Secondly, there are a great deal of on-campus and off-campus opportunities to be involved in different kinds of activities. Finally, Ryerson has a great location, which is close to everything a modern student needs and gives Ryerson a competitive advantage.

Matthew Rotondo

unnamed

What is your name, hometown and what year are you in?
My name is Matthew Rotondo. I’m from Woodbridge, Ontario, and I am in second year

Why did you choose Accounting & Finance?
I chose Accounting & Finance because of my interest in corporate finance and risk management.  I chose the Accounting & Finance program specifically because I loved Ryerson and the prospects of being the first wave of a brand new program.

What does a typical school day look like for you?
Typically I will start with my commute. Once I get into class, I will likely meet with a friend I have made in the program.  I’ll take notes and pay attention and once class is done I will leave (unless I have obligations to a student group).

What is the most challenging part of the program?
The most challenging part of the program was getting through first year.  There were several grade requirements that had to be met for very demanding courses.  Once those courses were handled, I was able to gain a better grasp of what I had to do to succeed in the program.

What is the best part of the program?
The best part about the program, by far, is the size.  The program is very small, which gives you the opportunity to become very close with almost everyone in the program.  It makes life as a student easier, knowing that you can discuss difficult topics with colleagues and assist each other in understanding difficult topics.  You build very good relationships in the program with other students which will ultimately assist you in the future.

What is your favourite class?
My favourite class was QMS 130.  It was a math based course that reviewed and extended our knowledge of calculus in the business world.

Why should a student choose Ryerson?
A student should choose Ryerson, the Accounting & Finance program specifically, if they want interesting and well taught courses, instructors that work to the best of their ability to assist students, and a learning environment that allows you to build great relationships as well as expand on your knowledge on various business topics.
