Best Spooky Movies to Watch in October

I don’t know about you, but I am a horror film fanatic. I will watch anything from Rosemary’s Baby to Saw. I’ve probably seen more horror movies alone than you have watched movies in your entire life. My love for scary films will never die. Which is why I have decided to make a nice compilation of spooky films for you all… if you can brave it. I have left the descriptions of the films very vague to keep the movies a surprise, and don’t watch trailers! Trust my horror film-fanatic judgment. I have given each film a 1-10 rating on how scary it is, 1 being barely scary and 10 being the absolute spookiest.

Paranormal Activity (2007)

Paranormal Activity was the first horror movie I ever watched. Don’t let the $11,000 budget scare you away (or do, lol).

Spooky rating: 10 out of 10

The Blair Witch Project (1999)

In my very professional opinion, everyone has to watch this OG found footage film at least ONCE in their life.

Spooky rating: 10 out of 10

The Babadook (2014)

I don’t even want to try to explain this one. It is really creepy and really good.

Spooky rating: 9 out of 10

Get Out (2012)

Get Out is more of a thriller than a horror, but it still keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Spooky rating: 8 out of 10

It Follows (2014)

It Follows is another great psychological thriller/horror, but it is a little more messed up than Blair Witch. The plot follows a girl that has been cursed by a supernatural presence that continues to, well, follow her. Get it? IT follows? It’s a good film, probably the scariest out of the bunch.

Spooky rating: 10 out of 10

Sinister (2012)

Sinister is a horror classic that everyone has to watch. That’s all I have to say.

Spooky rating: 9 out of 10

Cabin in the Woods (2011)

If you watch this, you’ll likely never want to go camping again.

Spooky rating: 8 out of 10

From left to right: Curt (Chris Hemsworth), Holden (Jesse Williams), Jules (Anna Hutchison), Marty (Fran Kranz) and Dana (Kristen Connolly) in THE CABIN IN THE WOODS.

The Visit (2015)

This one is somewhat funny, somewhat horrifying. What a delightful mix.

Spooky rating: 7 out of 10

Cloverfield (2008)

Personally, I think Cloverfield was more of a nail-biter than a horror (still really creepy)!

Spooky rating: 7 out of 10

10 Cloverfield Lane (2016)

I recommend this one just for the surprise ending… it’ll blow your mind, I promise you.

Spooky rating: 8 out of 10
