Your shorts are going to the back of your closet and you are putting your sandals away with memories of warmer days. Fall is on the way, and it is hard to imagine a better city to live in to welcome the changing leaves! Make the best of September and October with these mostly free events guaranteed to make you fall in love with Toronto!
1. Nuit Blanche
Ah, the famous Nuit Blanche. If you can elbow your way through hoards of smartphone-wielding Instagrammers, you can see some pretty awesome art on this all night event. From sunset to sunrise on October 1, streets of the downtown core shut down and become an eccentric art gallery. Insider tip: the crowds can get pretty crazy, so look at the map ahead of time so you know what installations you want to check out!
Take that Germany trip you’ve always dreamed of with Toronto Oktoberfest! Grab your lederhosen on September 30 and October 1 for one of the greatest Oktoberfests outside of Germany. Come to learn about Bavarian music, dancing, and of course FOOD at this weekend of never-ending fun.
One of my personal favourite fall events is the Vintage Crawl. On this one-night thrifting extravaganza, select vintage and antique stores stay open until midnight and offer special sales to its golden age customers. Some stores even offer FREE CANDY in the spirit of Halloween, so this is something you do NOT want to miss out on. Date TBA.
If you can stomach it, check out the poutine eating contest in Yonge-Dundas Square on October 1. You don’t have to eat as much as you can, but there will be FREE poutine as well as interactive games and prizes!
