So this year I’m taking on a new role, not only am I second year student, but I’m now also a student staff member in Residence! I work as an Academic Link (AL) for Graphic Communications Management students and Creative Industries students! As an AL, I provide academic support for students in my section in residence! Students can come to me for help with projects, academic guidance and any general questions and mentorship that they require! As an AL my days can be pretty hectic and crazy, but that’s all the more reason why I love this job! My days kinda go somewhat like this:
1. Wake up, FLAWLESS.
…Kidding, I wake up more like this:
2. Go to class
(Don’t we all wish our classes were this fun?)
3. Have office hours!
Okay, I just could not resist using an office GIF for this one. But office hours are an open time where I am available to assist any students! 🙂
4. Have loads and loads of pep and energy.
This dog is basically me on a day-to-day basis.
5. Plan super rad events.
These events are meant to bring students in residence together! Be it socials, study sessions, or anything involving free food; these events are a blast!
6. Be there for you, no matter what!
7. Did I mention we dance and cheer a lot in residence?
RYER-WHAT? Ryer- I can’t count on one hand how many times I’ve lost my voice so far this semester from cheering
8. Do my homework.
At the end of the day, I still have to balance my grades with my super amazing job. So a lot of the times I feel like this.
9. Make so many friends.
Again could not resist using a Friends reference, but my position in residence allows me to meet so many amazing students and develop lifelong bonds; I am truly blessed with this!
10. Finally sleep.
After a casual day of AL’ing, my favourite thing to do is sleep and then do it all over again! YAY! 🙂
