If you’re like me, Twitter is an extremely important part of your daily life. It’s a stress-reliever, an escape from your hectic schedule, an essential tool in connecting with others and the best way to stay up to date on popular culture. I also look to Twitter for a major source of entertainment as the jokes and memes just keeps getting better and better. There’s many different uses for Twitter, but having a diverse and captivating timeline that allows you to absorb a wide variety of content is a must. So, I’ve compiled a list of Twitter accounts that I believe are essential for helping you get the most out of your social media experience. Here we go!
1. So Sad Today
This account is hilarious, and sad and so, so relatable. We all have those moments where nothing goes right and this accounts makes me feel like I’m not alone!
Dril is really hard to explain if you come across some of his weirder tweets, and his strangeness has become a sort of legend on Twitter. Everything he tweets is incredibly funny, outrageous, and exactly the kind of content I’m looking for.
3. Nathan Zed
If you haven’t heard of Nathan, he’s an incredible talented YouTuber who has a really interesting take on popular culture. You could say he’s even “the voice of a generation”. As an Ethiopian, he also has a great way of discussing race in a critical and accessible way for his large audience of young people.
4. Real Carrot Facts
I’ve loved this account for about 4 years and I smile whenever a tweet pops up on my timeline. There’s nothing funnier than an account that occasionally tweets about carrots while casually mentioning an ex girlfriend they’re still in love with.
If there’s one account you absolutely can’t afford NOT to follow, it’s Buzzfeed. They never fail to deliver the most important information, stories, and memes while capturing a universal outlook on life that makes them a crucial part of the Internet community.
An account that points out all the embarrassing times companies will try to use “relatable” phrases in their tweets in order to connect with the teens. The kind of work that needs to be done.
7. CBC News
In between all the laughs, it’s important to read something of substance, especially from an amazing news organization like CBC that delivers incredibly relevant stories for young people!
8. Deray Mckesson
One of the founders of the Black Lives Matter movement, Deray has some really important insights on racial injustice and politics and delivers a lot of first hand content from events that you won’t find in traditional news. He shares the kind of information you absolutely need on your timeline and works hard to amplify the voices of those who are rarely heard.
9. No Bones Ted Cruz
About Ted Cruz’s inhuman quality. Enough said.
10. Seinfeld Current Day
Possibly my favourite account in existence, Seinfeld Current Day reimagines the world if Seinfeld was still on TV and applies elements of the show to contemporary culture with impressive Photoshop skills. The best part is the recurring joke about the account owner’s undying passion for the 2007 film “Bee Movie” starring Jerry Seinfeld.
And there you have 10 accounts to spice up your timeline! Make sure to follow all these amazing creators and see for yourself just how much your life on twitter will improve. Until next time!
